These words of the lioness, Aravis , are a message to Prince Rilian from Shara. In order to help Rilian escape from the strange land of Calormen, Aravis takes the form of a lion and guides him through the wilderness. In this way she is able to save his life, but she does more than that. She is a guardian of the king who wants to give Rilian a special gift.

When Rilian awakes he has forgotten everything about Aravis.
