About This Quote

When you are told something that seems untrue, or that conflicts with what you know to be true, you have a choice. You can either accept the information as true, or reject it as false. There are several cases where you will have to choose between accepting something as true or not. One of the most common is when you are told about something that has happened in the past.

If someone were to say, “Did you hear about the time I met Beyonce?” would you believe him? It sounds silly, but it happens all the time so I advise you to take it seriously. When you hear something that contradicts what has happened in the past, you should always think about whether the person saying it has any good reason for saying it or simply repeating known falsehoods. For instance, if someone is telling you that Beyonce said she was going to be on your birthday party, would that person also tell you that Obama was not born in America? The answer is no; they wouldn’t because they would know it’s not true.
