Ask a deeply religious Christian if he’d rather live next to a bearded Muslim that may or may not be plotting a terror attack, or an atheist that may or may not show him how to set up a wireless network in his house. On the scale of prejudice, atheists don’t seem so bad lately. Scott Adams
About This Quote

The truth is that when it comes to prejudice, atheists are the least of our worries. The real problem is when religion is used as a basis for discrimination. The influence of religion in society, especially the influence it has on a person’s beliefs, can be a problem. If a person firmly believes in a religion and refuses to be open to other ideas, they may have trouble accepting things that go against their religion.

The problem often arises when people who hold religious beliefs take those beliefs into account when making decisions for themselves and others. For example, an atheist may be giving a speech about how science has proven the existence of God and then be asked by someone from his audience if God exists. He may have trouble explaining that science doesn’t have all the answers and therefore can’t prove or disprove anything.
