We're equal before the law - if we pay the same amount

David Lagercrantz
About This Quote

The average citizen may believe that today's society is becoming increasingly equal. However, there are many aspects of life that are still unequal which proves this wrong. First, the government provides free education to the citizens of the nation. Despite this, some citizens are able to afford better schooling than others due to family wealth.

Then, some citizens are still treated as superior to the others. They are given more benefits and are generally treated with more respect though they pay no more tax than their counter parts. Even after paying tax, some people still receive less than what others receive.

For instance, some people who do not deserve it will receive a smaller wage than those who work harder and deserve more than what they earn. This is not equality and it does not reflect the equality we should all strive for in our daily lives.
