We all have certain things that we feel are too big for us to do. For me, the most terrifying of these has always been giving a speech. I have always had trouble speaking in public without completely freezing up mid-sentence (if you catch my drift). When I was younger I used to make fun of people who had to give speeches.

However, I had my first speech to give at the ripe old age of 30 and it was horrible. The worst part was, everyone told me how great it was, but that didn’t stop me from feeling like a failure. I decided then that if I ever had to give another speech again it would be the last one of my life.

It took me another five years before I gave another speech but this time there was no fear involved. There were no fears of forgetting what to say, or messing up somehow. It was just the moment before you have to speak, and you know it’s time to go out there and do it! That is when you must find the courage within yourself.
