Religious doctrines … are all illusions, they do not admit of proof, and no one can be compelled to consider them as true or to believe in them.

Sigmund Freud
About This Quote

All religions are not equal. The fact that there are people who choose to believe in a particular religion is a personal choice. If someone does not believe in a certain religion, it is not because they have been brainwashed or forced into believing it. It is because they have chosen a path that suits them.

Some people do not believe in a religion simply because they have gone through the whole process of trying to understand it and have found out that it makes no sense to them - they cannot see how it is relevant to their life. In the meantime, others will feel compelled to believe in a religion even though they can see no connection between it and their life, simply because they have been told since childhood that this is the right thing to do.
