A raven is a bird with black feathers, wild and original. Raven is an animal character in the story of Amara, a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. The story begins with an old woman who had lost her daughter and was grieving. The old woman heard a voice saying, "If you wish to see your daughter again, do three things: First, you must make three wishes." The old woman did as she was told and three days later her daughter appeared.

At the end of the story, Amara takes a piece of glass from the broken mirror to protect herself from evil spirits. When she looks into the mirror again, she sees a raven. Raven is a strong character in this fairy tale because he brings Amara back to life.
