If I look at the mass I will never act.

Mother Teresa
About This Quote

Not to sound too morbid, but the truth is that when it comes down to it, our own mortality matters. It’s easy to look at the world and see all the people who depend on us. In fact, we tend to do this quite a bit. But, more often than not, we forget about ourselves for a moment.

This habit keeps us from acting on what we know is right. Think of all of those people who have been trying to stop a school shooting or a terrorist attack. They know something needs to be done, but they can’t seem to do anything more than shout from a distance.

We can help others by acting first and then helping them.
