In fact, Buddha said, “Forgiveness has the power to free you from all suffering.” This is a well-known teaching that has been a part of Buddhist tradition for centuries. In the Buddhist view, our happiness lies in our ability to forgive others who have harmed us or done things that we may not have liked.

If we don't forgive others for their wrongs, we do ourselves no favors by holding grudges against them. By forgiving others, we free ourselves from resentments and from the painful emotions they bring with them - sorrow and regret.
