At home, they'd clipped my wings and then caged me so I couldn't fall. Here, they bandaged one another's broken wings, helped each other fly.

About This Quote

When we're young, we're told we need to be protected and we're taught to stay in our own little worlds and not to get close to other people. We're taught that we can't fall and that the only thing that is important is doing well in school and staying safe from other people's opinions. But, when we grow older, we realize that there are plenty of people who will help you up when you fall. You don't even have to ask for it (although sometimes it helps).

You just need to be open to it and show the willingness to get back up again. It's amazing how many people will reach out and help you, whether they're family or friends or complete strangers. We all understand this concept, but we forget how much it means and how much better our lives could be if we were more willing to help others who can't help themselves.
