For instance, you have to leave the house in order to go to work every day, but it is the idle habit of taking a walk or working out at the gym that fills your time with activity. Those things are not useful, so you have to break the habit of doing them. The more you have done something, the more difficult it is to stop doing it. You can't just stop eating bread because bread is what you eat every day, but if you use an egg instead of bread for breakfast, then there would be less bread consumed each day.
