Work as if everything depended upon work and pray as if everything depended upon prayer.

William Booth
About This Quote

Samuel Smiles, the Scottish philosopher and author of Self-Help, said: “Work as if everything depended upon work and pray as if everything depended upon prayer.” This is a great quote to live by. I’m not certain what Mr. Smiles meant by “everything” or how this relates to praying. However, I do believe that we should work hard and make our work as important as possible, but we should also pray hard.

Praying hard means that we should be willing to settle for nothing less than God’s perfect will for us, even if it feels like our situation isn’t changing. We need to continue asking God to help us in our efforts and that He will bring about the change that we desire in our lives.
