And yet another moral occurs to me now: Make love when you can. It's good for you.

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
About This Quote

A year ago, I was married to a man who cheated on me several times. The final time was with a woman he had been seeing for only a few weeks. He told me that he thought it would be easier to end the marriage if we divorced instead of having to work through our problems. I realized that whenever we had an argument, he always found a way to make it about himself.

He used the argument as a way to hurt me and show me how worthless I was—which was a lot easier for him than talking about his feelings or working through them with me. As I watched him bury himself in work when we fought, when he cut me off in traffic, when he avoided me when we were together, I realized that he wasn't interested in trying to work through our problems together—he just wanted an excuse to keep our marriage from being too hard on him.
