If I had known how difficult it was to edit my book, I would have done that first then written the story.

About This Quote

When you write a book, you fall in love with it. You’re so in love with your creation that you don’t want to let go of it. When you realize that you can’t make all the changes that you want in the book, that it needs to be edited by someone else, you feel like your heart is being ripped out of your chest. Your life has changed since the book was written, and your book is no longer what you originally thought it would be.

Of course, this isn’t true. Your original vision was never perfect. As an author, if I had realized all of the effort that editing my own work would require, I would have edited my book before I wrote it!
