What is a fantasy map but a space beyond which There Be Dragons?

Terry Pratchett
About This Quote

Fantasy maps are created to give the person creating it a better understanding of the world they live in. The map provides a clear picture of how the land stretches out and becomes connected at the edges. It also gives an idea of where those places are that you find to be most interesting. If you have had the opportunity to travel, you know that sometimes there is a place or a person that captures your attention so much that you have to visit again.

These places, these people may even become so important to you that you write about them. Some people call them their favorite haunts, but for me they are far beyond that. They are the stuff of which all my dreams are made.

Like traveling, fantasy maps are something that can capture your imagination and attention.
