About This Quote

In order to question the answers, you have to be able to think critically. In other words, when you hear something from someone, instead of accepting it at face value, ask yourself if they have a motive to say what they are saying. For instance, if a teacher is saying that a book you read during a summer reading assignment was a good book, will she be doing this if she doesn’t like that book? If she has a dislike for that book, then she might not want you to read it because she knows that it will make you think differently. In addition, if you hear something from someone and you disagree with what they are saying, ask them questions about the things they said.

By doing this, you can check up on their story and make sure that they are telling the truth. Also, when the evidence changes, don’t let your conclusion change with it. That is why it is important to be able to think critically.
