Unity is a great thing and a great slogan. But what the workers’ cause needs is the unity of Marxists, not unity between Marxists, and opponents and distorters of Marxism.

Vladimir Lenin
About This Quote

This quote is an example of unity in the wrong context. Unity in the labor movement is a good thing. It unites workers together in the struggle for justice and equality. Unity within the labor movement, however, is different than unity in solidarity with other working class movements. Unity with anti-capitalist movements, like the Black Panther Party, for instance, does not bind us to them in any way unless what they are fighting for is part of our class struggle.
