About This Quote

Although this quote is attributed to the French philosopher Michel Onfray it is actually a description of the world as seen by the Hindu philosopher, Kabir. It is said that Kabir was born in India around 1450 A.D. and died in 1518 A.D. Kabir travelled extensively but stayed primarily in North India where he wrote many of his most famous works.

Kabir was known for his radical thinking and his beliefs were often at odds with those of other Hindu philosophers. He believed that God was everything and everything was God. He also believed that the Self (Atman) within each individual is identical with God.

Kabir's beliefs were not popular at all times; some Hindus said that these ideas were too extreme and others said that they were too simple.
