A hallmark of virtuous adulthood is learning to find freedom in your work rather than freedom from your work, even when work might hurt.

About This Quote

Our society today is obsessed with the idea of work being something that takes away our free time. We are constantly told that work will hurt our lives, that it will cause us to feel stressed out, that it will deprive us of our most precious asset - our free time. However, this idea is faulty. Work should not be something that takes away our free time, but rather it should be something that makes us happy through the service we offer to others. It should be a means of serving others in the best way possible, in order for us to know what true joy is. If we are doing something that is inherently worthwhile and meaningful, then there is no better feeling than knowing that you are helping people in your community.
