Love, hope, fear, faith - these make humanity; These are its sign and note and character

Robert Browning
About This Quote

Love, hope, fear, faith – these make humanity – these are its sign and note and character. These four feelings give a person a sense of humanity. A person’s humanity is their ability to love, hope, be afraid and have faith. We all need these emotions to survive as a human being.

Without them we would not be able to live as a human being. But without humanity we could not live as a human being because we would not be able to live as a human being with them.
