Like ´Bluebeard´, the fairy tale of ´Snow White´does not record a single, appalling crime, but testifies to a structural and endemic conflict in society that was political and social as well as personal, producing many, many instances of similar violence.

About This Quote

In the fairy tale, Snow White is a beautiful girl with long, flowing hair. Everyone wants to marry her. The stepmother wants her dead so she can marry the king and become queen. The dwarfs want her dead so they can eat her flesh.

Her father wants to kill her because she reminds him of his wife who was killed by the queen. The huntsman wants to kill her because she is beautiful and he desires her for himself. The queen wants her dead because she is not the type of woman the king will accept as his wife.

He wants someone more obedient and submissive to be queen after him. Every person in this story is driven by their needs to be fulfilled, but no one wants to fulfill the needs of any other person.
