About This Quote

50 years is a long time in which to expect a change in a political system. Failing to achieve democracy in Cuba has been a problem for the United States since the Cuban revolution in 1959. For 50 years, the American government has tried everything from isolation to bombing to invasion to remove Castro. The problem was always the same; Castro had more support than any other Cuban leader had ever found. He was only overthrown by force once, and it didn't work.
