.. . what is thought now, and held to be universal truth, was not thought then, or true of that time.

George MacDonald Fraser
About This Quote

A quote by Plutarch, "What is thought now, and held to be universal truth, was not thought then, or true of that time." This is a great example of how people can change their minds when they look back on the past. The truth of the matter is that in ancient times, there were many different things that they thought about and believed. Each region had its own perception of the world and its own set of beliefs. If we were to travel back in time and see what people believed for the purposes of today's standards, we would think we were crazy for believing things that we do today.
