There would be no Lenin without Rasputin.

Robert K. Massie
About This Quote

There would be no Lenin without Rasputin. The fact that Rasputin was considered an advisor to the Czar in Russia in the early 1900s has raised many interesting questions. First, who was this man who was so important to the Russian government that he could influence policy decisions? He was known as a mystic and healer, but he also had connections with the criminal underworld. Rasputin’s political position is not what interests us here, however; rather it is what happened when he died in 1916. With his death, Lenin was able to rise up and take over the government for himself.
