They are important and can be useful tools in our lives. Rather, we should recognize that they are the result of the mind’s tendency to create fiction in order to fulfill our desires.
By recognizing them as such, we can begin to cultivate a different relationship with these thoughts. Instead of being ego-driven, they are simply thoughts that have arisen in response to something outside of us. We are free from these thoughts when we detach from them by realizing their unreality.
