Woody Guthrie was an American singer-songwriter and activist, and a leading exponent of the twelve-bar blues. He wrote hundreds of topical songs, and his best-known song is "This Land Is Your Land", which has been recorded hundreds of times and written about in many books and films. He was also a prolific writer of ballads, folk songs, and traditional folk music, and wrote numerous songs that became part of the American folk canon, such as "Ain't Got No Home", "City of New Orleans", and "So Long It's Been Good to Know Yuh".
