William Wynn Westcott, 31 October 1811 – 7 October 1875, was an English occultist, Rosicrucian mystic and founder of the Order of the Golden Dawn. A prolific writer on occult subjects, he was also chairman of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn from its formation in 1888 until his death in 1875. A student of Masonry, he was initiated into Freemasonry by Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers in 1854. He was also a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the Hermetic Society, and the Societas Rosicruciana in Civitatibus Foederatis.
