William Eisen is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Queensland. He is the author of the award-winning book, The Never-Ending Story: Children and Youth in Australia's Prisons, 1923–1987 (Wolters, 2008), which documents the social history of children behind bars. His research on youth gangs and juvenile offending has been published widely, including in Crime and Society (vol. 1, no
2), Australian Journal of Criminology (vol. 42, no. 3), Theoretical Criminology (vol.
10, no. 3), Australian Journal of Public Health (vol. 32, no.
1), and Theoretical Criminology (vol. 14, no. 1).
He has also recently completed a three-year research fellowship on contemporary juvenile justice policy development for the Centre for Criminal Justice Research at Griffith University in Brisbane.
