Wataru Watari (和辻 渉; born October 8, 1968) is a Japanese manga artist and writer. Watari started his career as the author of the series "Aqua" (1992–1995), which was subsequently adapted into an anime television series (1996–1997). He later became the author of the series "The Legend of Koizumi" (1999–2000) and "Nana" (2009–2012). He also became the author of the series "Monster" (2015-) and is credited as the creator and mangaka for "KONOHANA KITAN" (2015-). Watari's works have been adapted into several Japanese films, including the film "Konohana Kitan: Hana no Uta" (2011), based on his series "Konohana Kitan", as well as three live-action adaptations: one of his most popular works, "The Tale of Koizumi, Kisaragi" (2008), and two short films: one based on "NANA", starring Ryo Yoshizawa as Nana Mizuki, and another based on "The Legend of Koizumi, Kisaragi" starring Takayuki Yamada as Koizumi.
