In 1955 Gallwey wrote The Inner Game of Tennis (originally published as The Inner Game of Tennis: How to Use the Mental Skills for Success on Grass and Clay), which became a classic reference on sports psychology; it has now been translated into nine languages and has sold more than five million copies worldwide.
