Dr. viral panchal (born as Virendra Panjal) is a professor of Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology at the University of Michigan Medical School. He has been a molecular biologist for 30 years and has worked extensively in the fields of protein and nucleic acid biochemistry and biotechnology. He was first attracted to science by his studies in organic chemistry and by his early exposure to the many diverse aspects of science
His research interest includes transcriptional regulation, protein structure and function, and nucleic acid structure and function. He has authored over 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Biophysical Chemistry, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, Journal of Molecular Biology, Clinical Cancer Research, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, etc. Dr.
Panchal has served as an editor for the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cell Biology International, etc. He currently is affiliated with the United States Department of Agriculture Monogram Program where he is working on agricultural applications of biotechnology. He is also involved with various NGOs including Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Global Alliance for Vaccines & Immunization (GAIN), World Vision International (WVI), etc.
