3 Quotes & Sayings By Venerable Bede

Venerable Bede is one of the most important writers in the history of English. He was born in 673 in Northumbria, England, and died in 735 at Monkwearmouth, Durham. He was a prolific writer of both fiction and history, but he is best known for his seven-volume Historia Ecclesiastica, or Ecclesiastical History. A new edition was published in 1845 by the Oxford University Press. It consists of seven books, the last four being his greatest work. It remains perhaps the greatest single source of information on Anglo-Saxon England during the early Middle Ages, though it does contain some misconceptions, particularly regarding learning among the Anglo-Saxons.
