Tutea's first book, The Drawing Room, was published in April 2008 by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. It was chosen as a "Top Ten Book" by The Horn Book Magazine. Her other novels are The Daughter of Fire (October 2008), which received starred reviews from School Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, and Kirkus Reviews, and has been awarded an Honorary Mention by the National Council for the Social Studies, and The Drawing Room (January 2011).
