Thomas Middleton was born in 1580 in Little Gaddesden, Hertfordshire. He attended Magdalen College, Oxford, where he was awarded a BA in 1604. He would later be ordained as a priest in the Church of England. From 1613 until his death in 1632, Middleton was chaplain at Little Gaddesden.
