Ted Nugent is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and political activist who lives in Detroit. He has been a member of the rock bands Damn Yankees and Damn Yankees II and the Motor City Madman Band. He is an avid outdoorsman and hunter, having won numerous awards in that area, including being named Sportsman of the Year in 1979 by Sports Afield magazine. He is also a strong advocate for the right to bear arms and a member of the National Rifle Association where he was a board member from 1972 until 1996. He was elected to the NRA Board of Directors in 2010 for a four-year term.
