Steve Repak was born in Utica, New York and raised in the small town of Massena, New York. He began his writing career as a journalist and made headlines as a "fireman's apprentice" for an upstate newspaper. He soon became a freelance writer and has written for over 200 national newspapers and magazines, including the New York Times, The Washington Post, and USA Today. His work has also appeared in such publications as Esquire, Men's Health, Vanity Fair, GQ, and The Wall Street Journal
