S.R. Tabone was born in Manila, Philippines on February 24, 1975. She attended the University of Santo Tomas and earned a Master's degree in Marketing. After a brief stint as a marketing executive, she turned to writing as a career and has since published ten novels which have been translated into 133 languages and sold over 16 million copies worldwide
Her first novel, The Awakening, was awarded the prestigious PEN USA Literary Award for Best First Book by an American Author. In 2013, she received the Asian American Literary Award from the Asian American Writers' Workshop for her work as an author and advocate of Asian American literature.
