Simon Tugwell was born in 1950 in the West of England. He spent his childhood in a cottage on a hill overlooking the town of Shaftesbury. In 1963, the family moved to the coastal town of Weston-super-Mare. After leaving school, Simon worked as an accountant and a sales director for a small business before moving to London in 1976
In 1979 he joined the Inland Revenue as a tax officer and went on to become an Area Manager with responsibility for twelve counties. He is married with two grown up children, and two beautiful daughters from a previous marriage. He divides his time between Hertfordshire and South Devon.
