Sari Nusseibeh is a Palestinian academic, politician, philosopher, jurist, author and former president of Birzeit University. He was the Minister of Education in the Palestinian National Authority from 1994 to 2003. He was born in Jerusalem, in 1948 in the British Mandate of Palestine. His father was a well-known Arab nationalist politician who served in the Legislative Council in 1947
He attended primary school at the Al-Husseini School in Beit Hanina. After secondary school he studied law at University College London graduating with a master's degree in law in 1965. He then went to Harvard Law School where he received his PhD in 1970.
In 1995 he received an honorary doctorate from the London School of Economics.
