Born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Ryan Adams got his start playing drums for the Louisville band Whiskeytown in the late 1990s. Adams has released two albums under his own name: Heartbreaker (2000) and Gold (2003). He's also released several albums with his alt-country band the Cardinals, including 2001's On Avery Island and 2005's Cold Roses. Adams has collaborated with other musicians, including Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, James McMurtry, Emmylou Harris, and Van Morrison.
