Robin McLaurin Williams was an American actor and comedian. He gained fame for his role as the alien Mork from Ork in the TV series Mork & Mindy. He was known for his improvisation skills, free-form comedic style, and improvisational and observational writing. His acting career began in 1970 on Laugh-In, a variety show that ran from 1967 to 1973
In 1975 he starred in the comedy-drama film Good Morning, Vietnam, making him one of the most commercially successful actors of the decade. In 1980 he starred in the film The Blues Brothers and in 1982 he co-starred with Bette Midler in the film The Woman in Red, which earned them both Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress – Comedy or Musical. He also starred in many other films such as 1987's The Emperor's New Groove, 1989's Mrs.
Doubtfire, and 1991's Hook. His first marriage was to actress Carrie Fisher; they married on September 25, 2010. They had two children: Billie Catherine Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley and actor/musician Jack Antonoff
