Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell, OM, GCMG, PC (1 December 1857 – 8 March 1941) was a British soldier, writer and founder of the Scouting movement. He was also a prolific writer on many other matters and wrote many books and pamphlets on a wide range of subjects. His work in the military and in the Scouting movement was his life-long passion and he founded both on the basis of his own experiences.
