Rigzin Namgyal was born in Dzongkha, Bhutan, in 1968. He was educated at St. Joseph's College, Darjeeling (B.A., B.Ed.) and the University of Delhi (M.A., M.Phil.). He is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Language at the University of North Texas (Denton) where he is also Coordinator for the Bhutanese Studies Program
