Rachel Kaadzi Ghansah is an American novelist who was born in Accra, Ghana. She is of Akan descent. She is the author of the novel "Nutshell" which was published by Bloomsbury in January 2011. It won the 2012 Bailey's Prize for Fiction, the 2012 Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Book, and was on the 2013 Man Booker Prize Shortlist
