Pierre Lemaitre is a French writer born in 1970. His first novel, La Place de l'Étoile (The Place of the Star), was published in 2000. The book won the Prix Goncourt for best debut novel in 2000, and was nominated for the Grand Prix du roman de l'Académie française in 2001. Lemaitre has also written a number of short stories and a few screenplays
He is currently working on a new novel, to be published in 2011.
