Peter Pomerantsev is an independent journalist, author and film director. He was born in Moscow, Russia. He graduated from Moscow State University in 1994 with a degree in political science. He worked for several major international agencies in Moscow before moving to the United Kingdom in 2001
From 2001 to 2004 he worked for the Guardian newspaper, where he was Moscow Bureau Chief. In 2004 he moved to the BBC World Service, where he worked as a freelance reporter until 2006, when he became a full-time producer working on the series "The Warlords", based on his book about power in Russia. In 2009 he won the Royal Television Society's Gold Award For International Current Affairs Reporting for his reporting on the Russian Presidential election of 2008.
