Pete Townshend is an English rock musician, songwriter, and writer. He is best known as the guitarist and principal songwriter of the Who, one of the most influential bands of the 20th century, but he has also had a prolific career outside of this group. He has written numerous books, including his autobiography Who I Am; three novels; several books on music; several works of non-fiction; and several collections of essays. Townshend was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Who in 1995.
