Pete Best (aka Albert Peter Best) was born in the East End of London, England on November 23rd, 1941. At the age of 15, he joined the legendary beat group The Beatles, who were still at school at the time. Pete played drums and could be found sitting behind John Lennon and Ringo Starr in the iconic black and white image that epitomized The Beatles. He toured with them for almost 2 years and performed with them on all their best selling singles from Rubber Soul to Abbey Road
Pete left the band shortly after their final concert at Shea Stadium, New York City on August 29th, 1966. In a tragic twist, Pete was killed by a hit and run driver just four months later on October 9th, 1966. Pete remains close friends with all his former band mates and is regularly seen at Beatles reunions around the world.
