Padre Pio's life and experiences were documented by film and television. His story was also told in a two-volume book titled, "Padre Pio: The Man Who Cried Like a Child." This work is now out of print, but can be found at some libraries. Padre Pio was born Francesco Forgione on September 17, 1887. He was ordained as a Catholic priest in 1910
He was beatified on May 24, 2002 by Pope John Paul II. He died on January 17, 1968.
