Orson Welles (July 6, 1915 – October 10, 1985) was an American director, actor, writer, and producer who worked in theatre, film, radio, and television. He is best remembered for his film Citizen Kane (1941), which he co-wrote with the uncredited Herman J. Mankiewicz and which is generally considered to be the greatest film of all time (see List of highest-grossing films ). On October 10, 1985, Welles suffered a stroke and died at the age of 68.
